KENNER, La. — Republican candidate for Louisiana House District 92 Alex Perdomo has published a guest commentary in The Hayride about his family’s roots in Jefferson Parish and his priorities for the district.

In the piece, Perdomo describes growing up in Jefferson Parish after his parents immigrated from Honduras, his education at East Jefferson High School and LSU, and earning an MBA from Tulane while working full time. He also discusses his career managing major construction projects, including work on the Louis Armstrong International Airport terminal, Ochsner’s main campus and Superdome renovations.

“On a job site, you learn quickly that good intentions and empty promises don’t pour concrete,” Perdomo writes. “You have to execute a plan, stick to a budget and a schedule, and be willing to be held accountable.”

Perdomo’s commentary identifies homeowners insurance affordability, storm mitigation, drainage and infrastructure as key concerns for families in the district. He calls for efforts to encourage more insurers to write policies in Louisiana, reform what he describes as lawsuit abuse, expand the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, and secure funding for local drainage and road projects.

“Families shouldn’t have to worry about moving their cars to higher ground, water reaching their front doors, or facing thousands of dollars in damage every time a storm rolls through,” he writes.

 

Perdomo also says his campaign is supported by Kenner families, neighbors and small business owners. He serves on the Kenner Planning and Zoning Commission and lives in Kenner with his wife, Anne Claire, and their three children.

 

“My parents gave up a great deal so I could build something here,” Perdomo writes. “I want my children, and yours, to have that same chance.”
